Afromix at Harwich Children’s Festival 2015
Afromix a collaborative project between Efua Sey Cultural Academy and BrazilArte funded by Essex Music Hubs and delivered by Essex Cultural Diversity Project.
AfroMix is a World Music project connecting old traditional African with new Brazilian world rhythms. The project will give children and young people in Tendring an opportunity to experience World Music and to compose and perform a new work using Afro-Brazilian percussion.
The project has been working with secondary and primary schools in Tendring. World Music practitioners BrazilArte and Efua Sey have been working together with groups of young people to create a collaborative piece for performance which took place at the Harwich Chidrens Carnival last week .
Afromix has already provided awareness of World Music styles and extended an additional opportunity to ECDP practitioners to talk about their culture as well as their music.
The Harwich Children’s Festival an Annual event which took place on Thursday 25th June 2015 in the old town of Harwich with school participating from Tendering .The event was organised by Grand Theatre of Lemmings and supported by local volunteers who have over the years fundraised to sustain the project and continue to grow from strength to strength with limited resources.
